Hey guys! Can you believe that today is the last day of September?!
Can you believe that it is actually starting to feel like fall?! We are in the midst of our first official cool snap of the season. I hope that you experiencing the same thing where you are, because it is glorious! It was 56 degrees on our run this morning (as opposed to 80-something degrees yesterday evening). All of a sudden … it’s FALL!
I’ve got a 5K tomorrow morning and I am pretty pumped about this weather. Surely it can stick around for at least one day?! Fingers crossed.
Since September is *almost* done, it’s time for a monthly recap post.

Races: Only one race again this month … the Hurricane Run 5K.
Favorite Race: By default this category goes to the Hurricane Run 5K. I would take this category away, but the fall racing season is about to be in high gear. I’ve got at least 3 races planned each month in October and November! Woo hoo!
Longest run: 15 miles
Shortest run: 3.5 miles
Favorite run: I can’t believe that I am going to say this, but my favorite run this month was the 3 X 2 mile workout I did a few weeks ago. It was a killer workout that was a huge confidence boost for me. I typically do longer repeat workouts like this on the TM, but this time I took it to the track (what?!). I negative split the workout and finished up faster than my goal range. Woo hoo!
I actually had a hard time choosing one run as my favorite (#runnerproblems). I’ve really been enjoying the track workouts. This is coming from a runner that used to strongly dislike the track (side note: my parents taught me not to use the word “hate” when I was a little kid, so “strongly dislike” is code for the H word).
I guess the main change is that my mindset and specific goals have shifted in the last month. Each track workout is now an easily identifiable, measurable action step leading me closer to the goals that I have set for this training cycle (in general: focus on speed and shorter distances and specific: sub 18 5k, sub 37:30 10k, sub 62 10 mile, sub 1:23 half).
Rest days: 1
Other: I got in a couple of walks and went paddle boarding a few times. Success!
I’ll leave you with this little gem. Y’all know I love a good sunset. The reflection on the water for this one was so pretty. It felt like it was pointed directly at us.
That’s a wrap! I’m really looking forward to October. Lots of races and hopefully fast running to be done.
Tell me. What do you have on tap for October?
So far I have two races in October but most likely there will be one more. Both of mine are 10Ks, with one tomorrow and one on October 22. I will be running some 5K on Oct. 8 since that’s my birthday. I haven’t decided which one yet but it’s my birthday race so I want it to be special.
You had a ton of workouts which totally makes up for doing just one race, but that is a GREAT race pic you got! I did 2 races this month, one was great and the other was horrible because the course organizer (Eagle Endurance) didn’t mark the course and 14 of us in the lead pack took a wrong turn and ran a 1.75 mile 5K. Ugh. The lady from the charity still gave me one of the awards… think they had extra, haha.
I am ready for the cool temperatures! I bet you will fly if it’s cooler tomorrow morning. Crossing my fingers I will wake up to cool temps too.

Great recap of your month! You’ve logged some impressive runs and you’re orienting toward specific goals. I also love that photo of the sunset. It’s gorgeous. Excited to see what you can do now that it’s starting to get cooler outside.
Thank you so much! Training for speed vs. endurance has been incredibly refreshing. I hope you are still on the mend!
